Tattoos can be seen on people in many Arab countries today however tattooing is not a Arab tradition. Tattooing is  commonly practiced  among the Berbers of North Africa by women. Christians Arabs in Egypt tattoo crosses on their hands or wrists.

  • It uses the 18 distinct letter shapes
  • It involves change of shapes in connecting the letters
  • There are different types of scripts used in traditional Arabic calligraphy as early as the 7th century which include Farsi, Kufi, Deewani, Naskh, Req’aa and Thuluth.
